Rio De Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, home to the “Christ The Redeemer Statue overlooking the entire city. Visitors can take the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain for some sight seeing or go down to Ipanema Beach for some well needed relaxation. Tours can be taken to explore the many historic monuments and architecture.
If the relaxing atmosphere is not your style, then perhaps the more competitive one of the Barra da Tijuca Beach is more to your style. It is the longest beach in Rio, spanning 11 miles, and was the spot of the 2016 Olympics venue. Following this the beach has seen an increase in more professionally inclined water sports. Here you will find surfers, of both the kit and water variety, athletic sports, and even a surfing school for novices. The great water and wind conditions allow for novices and expert to enjoy their time during the summer with little worry.
If you have the chance, coming by to Rio on the week of Carnival will leave a miraculous impression on you. From parades, to costumes, to great food and street performance, this festival is sure to have everything you want in a holiday celebration. Many come to visit the Sambadrome to see the many Samba schools perform.
